Flávio Nazinho Signs with Monaco Until 2030 at Age 22

Portuguese left-back Flávio Nazinho arrived in the Principality on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, and officially signed with AS Monaco until June 2030. He joins from Cercle Brugge, the Belgian club belonging to the same ownership group as the Monegasques, and becomes the club’s first confirmed signing for the 2026-2027 season.

A Portuguese Player at Rouge et Blanc for the First Time Since 2024

Born in Costa da Caparica, in the municipality of Almada, Flávio Basilua Jacinto Dos Nazinho — the player’s full name — becomes the 19th Portuguese player to wear Monaco’s colours in the club’s history. The last Portuguese presence in the professional squad had been Gelson Martins, who left the Principality in January 2024. Before him, figures such as João Moutinho, Bernardo Silva and Ricardo Carvalho also represented the club.

The geographical curiosity does not go unnoticed: Costa da Caparica is the same neighbourhood that produced Cristiano Ronaldo’s former team-mate at Sporting CP. Nazinho’s story in football began at the Sporting academy, where he made his debut for the first team in the Champions League, in November 2021. The team was managed by Ruben Amorim.

At Cercle Brugge, where he played for the last three seasons, the left-back accumulated appearances in the Europa League and the Conference League, as well as the Champions League itself — a combination that is uncommon for a 22-year-old. It was there that he crossed paths with Edan Diop, a former team-mate who did not hesitate to recommend Monaco to the Portuguese player.

Technical Profile and What to Expect in the Principality

A left-back with attacking origins, Nazinho stands out for his ability to contribute both in build-up play and in offensive support. In February 2026, he was voted Player of the Month by Cercle Brugge’s supporters after featuring in all of the club’s games that month, with one goal and one assist. Almost a third of the votes went to him.

At Monaco, the youngster will join a project under construction that will also compete in the Conference League next season — a competition he already knows from the inside. The four-year contract signals the club’s belief in his long-term potential for development.
