Napoli Launch Centenary Shirt Featuring an AI-Created Image of Maradona
Napoli have taken the first step in celebrating their 100th anniversary by unveiling the home shirt for the 2026-27 season aboard the MSC World Europa cruise ship. The kit arrives with historic weight from the start: the club will complete a century of existence on August 1, and the design was created to carry that meaning in every detail.
A shirt that looks back to project the future
The design deliberately revives the aesthetic of the 1980s, the period when the club won its first scudetto. This is no coincidence. The visual reference to that generation is direct, and the club went further still: on social media, using artificial intelligence, it showed the shirt being worn by Diego Armando Maradona, seated in the stands of the stadium that now bears his name.
The partnership with EA7 reaches its sixth consecutive year, this time led by Valentina De Laurentiis. Four symbolic elements are embroidered on the shirt: the Corsiero del Sole, the club’s first emblem; the centenary crest; the infinity symbol, representing the bond between city and team; and the current SSC Napoli logo. A technological touch completes the set: an NFC chip patch that unlocks exclusive content. On the back of the collar sits the inscription Partenopei.
De Laurentiis sets the tone: “Pe cient’anne”
President Aurelio De Laurentiis was direct at the launch ceremony. “This anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year. A hundred years of passion, of falls, of rebirths, of triumphs,” he said. For August 1, a special event is being prepared in the center of Naples. The season’s motto is more than a slogan — it is an expression in the Neapolitan dialect: Pe cient’anne, roughly “for a hundred years more.”
The executive also spoke about the reshaping of the squad under Massimiliano Allegri, who will be officially presented on July 14. De Laurentiis was emphatic: the club has 47 registered players and needs to trim the group down to around 22. “In my opinion, we won’t need to buy anyone. We’ll have to move a lot of players out,” he stated. In his view, the new coach is as much a manager as a tactician — someone whose collaboration promises to be productive.
The context of an anniversary that goes beyond fashion
The choice to present the shirt on a luxury cruise ship is not merely aesthetic. It is positioning. For several years now, Napoli have been building a brand identity that goes beyond results on the pitch, and the centenary is the perfect moment to reinforce it.
