Arsenal end 22-year drought and Premier League 2026/27 takes shape
The World Cup closed the cycle of a hectic summer, but club football is already demanding the spotlight. On Tuesday, Sr. Goool released the full tables and simulator for the six main European championships for the 2026/2027 season. Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Premier League and Primeira Liga — all available for fans to simulate, explore and follow closely.
Arsenal break the taboo, Coventry return after a quarter of a century
The highlight belongs to the Premier League. Arsenal have finally ended a 22-year drought without an English title — a wait that had lasted since 2003/2004, the season of Arsène Wenger’s famous Invincibles. The Gunners are back on top, and the Emirates crowd can breathe. West Ham, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers did not hold on and dropped to the second division.
The replacements arrive with stories of their own. Coventry City return to the English elite after 25 years of absence — at the highest level. Hull City, out since 2016/2017, and Ipswich Town, recently relegated the previous season, complete the promotions. Next season’s English league will mix tradition with novelty.
Bayern remain untouchable, Barcelona reclaim La Liga
In the Bundesliga, no surprise. Bayern Munich lifted the trophy once again — something that has already become routine in Munich. Wolfsburg, Heidenheim and St. Pauli were eliminated from the elite, making room for Elversberg Saar, who earn an unprecedented promotion to the top flight, along with Paderborn and the traditional Schalke 04, back after three seasons in the second division.
In Spain, Barcelona arrive as the reigning champions. The relegated trio — Mallorca, Girona and Real Oviedo — give way to names carrying stories of resurrection: A Coruña and Málaga, both out of the elite since 2017/2018, and Racing Club de Santander, who spent eight years away from the main stage of Spanish football.
Italy, France and Portugal: old acquaintances back
In Serie A, Internazionale defend the scudetto won last season. Cremonese, Hellas Verona and Pisa go down to Serie B, replaced by Frosinone, Monza and Venezia — none of them strangers to the Italian elite, but all hungry for consolidation.
In France, PSG remain supreme. Without a rival of the same level in the French championship, the Parisian club once again dominated Ligue 1 comfortably. Nantes and Metz went down, while Le Mans resurface after 16 years out of the top division and Troyes return after a three-season absence.
In Portugal, Porto sealed the Primeira Liga title. Tondela and AVS dropped, and two clubs reappear on the map of the Portuguese elite: Académico de Viseu, returning after an impressive 37 years out of the top flight, and Marítimo, back after two seasons in the second tier.
