Arsenal receive a 45 million euro offer for Martinelli
Arsenal have a 45 million euro proposal from Galatasaray for Gabriel Martinelli on the table, a move that stirs an area already reshaped by Mikel Arteta this summer. The central point, though, is another: the Brazilian is not pushing for an exit and, if he leaves London, is likely to prioritise an elite European league.
The size of the approach and Arsenal’s reading
The English club was already working with the idea of selling to fund part of the window, and Martinelli is one of the names with a market. At 25, the forward is under contract until 2027, with an option to extend by another season, which gives Arsenal room to negotiate and avoids any immediate pressure to balance the books.
Galatasaray’s offer is significant but not necessarily decisive. The 45 million euro figure puts the Turkish club at the table with real ambition, but the context weighs: Martinelli was a regular piece in the Premier League title campaign and the run to the Champions League final, totalling 53 games, 11 goals and seven assists last season. He is not a peripheral asset. He is a high-rotation player.
What Martinelli thinks
For now, the picture is calm. The Brazil international shows no sign of a rupture with Arsenal and is not driving a move. That changes the tone of the negotiation considerably. Without pressure from the player, the final word rests even more with the London club, which should only move forward if it sees a proposal that is genuinely advantageous in both sporting and financial terms.
There is also an important detail: if he does leave, those around the player expect a transfer to one of the continent’s strongest leagues. That is why the sporting project counts almost as much as the money. Galatasaray are coming off a Super Lig title and have assembled an eye-catching squad, with names such as Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, Baris Alper Yilmaz and Lucas Torreira, but they still need to clear that barrier of competitive perception.
A busy window with a knock-on effect
Arsenal have already made moves on the flanks. Christos Tzolis arrived, while Leandro Trossard left for Besiktas. Before that, Christian Norgaard was sold to Everton. Internally, the reading is that further exits will be needed before the window closes. Martinelli, then, enters the radar not as a discard but through market logic.
Since arriving from Ituano in 2019 as a teenager, the Brazilian has accumulated 62 goals in 278 matches for the first team and built both technical and asset value. Over the international summer he also kept his shop window lit: he played in four of Brazil’s five World Cup games and scored the winning goal against Japan in the knockout stage. In other words, his price has not fallen. If Galatasaray really want to move forward, they may need to do more than open their wallet.
