Bayern refuse to sell Olise for less than €200 million – and Real Madrid want to pay

Bayern Munich are unmovable: Michael Olise is not for sale. But Real Madrid seem willing to make an offer the Bavarians will find hard to ignore – and the numbers circulating are dizzying.

An offer above €200 million on the table

According to information arriving from Spain, Olise has become the Merengue club’s number one target for the next market. The Madrid board see the French winger as the ideal piece to reinforce the attack – and would be willing to invest well over €200 million to take him out of Bavaria. President Florentino Pérez himself had signalled, during the re-election campaign, the intention to present a €150 million offer for a Champions League player. At the time, all the signs pointed to Olise. Now the figure has grown.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer had already publicly ruled out any approach from Real, stating that no formal offer had been received and that the club did not intend to negotiate the player. The message is clear. Except that, behind the scenes, the Bavarians acknowledge there would be a threshold – around €220 million – above which the conversation could at least begin.

Why Bayern resist – and with good reason

Olise arrived at Bayern in the summer of 2024, from Crystal Palace for around €50 million, and quickly became one of the central pieces of Vincent Kompany’s system. At 23, speed, technical quality and the ability to decide in tight spaces make him a practically irreplaceable player in the current Bavarian setup. To sell now would be to regress. The club is building a project for the next two cycles – and the Frenchman is at the heart of that plan.

It is no coincidence that the Bavarians set the value so high. It is not just about recovering money: it is a strategy to make the operation unviable. Real Madrid know this. And even so, they keep pushing.

Real, City and the striker market about to boil

Real Madrid’s interest in Olise comes in a broader context of reconfiguring the team’s attack. With José Mourinho taking over as coach, some squad pieces are expected to change scenery – and Eduardo Camavinga, for example, is already on Inter Milan’s radar as a possible departure. The idea seems to be to renew, rejuvenate, redefine the style of play.

Manchester City are also mentioned as a possible competitor in the fight for Olise, which would make the dispute even more expensive. If two of the richest clubs in the world go on a collision course over a single player, Bayern could have exactly what they want: a bidding war that justifies whatever decision they take – to sell or not to sell.

For now, the Bavarians’ official position does not change. Olise stays. But in football, as is well known, principles have an expiry date – and tend to be measured in euros.
