Newcastle and Leeds compete for Midtjylland striker for over €25 million
The summer transfer window is open and the market is already boiling. With the World Cup over, clubs have set aside the waiting and moved on to real negotiations. There’s money on the table, players in their sights and, in some cases, rivals fighting over the same targets.
An English duel over Franculino Dju
Newcastle are one of the most active in this window. The club are looking to strengthen the attack before the start of the new season and have identified Franculino Dju, an FC Midtjylland striker, as one of their priority names. The fee asked by the Danish club is above €25 million — a considerable figure, but within what the Magpies are willing to invest after consolidating their presence in European competitions.
The problem is that Leeds United also appear interested in the 22-year-old. Competition between two Premier League rivals for the same name rarely simplifies a deal. Dju has stood out for his consistency in the Danish championship.
Digne close to PSG
Aston Villa may have to recalculate their options at left-back. Paris Saint-Germain are said to have triggered Lucas Digne’s release clause, set at €10 million, to sign the French defender in the coming days. If the operation is confirmed, the Villans will have to rush to find a replacement of the same level before the window closes.
Digne, who spent the last few seasons in England, would return to French football in a move that mainly benefits PSG: paying €10 million for an experienced full-back, with spells at Barcelona and Everton, is a done deal without bureaucracy.
Milan weigh up selling Leão and already have a replacement in view
The most impactful move, however, comes from Milan. AC Milan are said to be willing to negotiate Rafael Leão this window. The Portuguese forward is one of the most highly valued names in European football right now, and his possible departure would represent a turnaround in the Italian club’s strategy.
To fill the void on the left, Milan reportedly already have their next target: Konstantinos Karetsas, a young prospect from Genk. Betting on a talent from the Belgian academy signals a change of profile — from the established star to potential to be developed. It’s a logic that can make financial sense, but one that demands patience. And Milan’s fans tend not to have much of it.
