Milan want Gonçalo Ramos for €70m and rush to complete the squad before 13 July

Serie A’s transfer market has entered its decisive phase. The big Italian clubs are racing against the clock to assemble their squads before the start of pre-season, and Milan are leading this frantic pace: the rossoneri want to close most of their signings by 13 July, the date of the return to training under Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese coach arrives in Italy a few days earlier and is already working with the board on building a group with a strong Portuguese identity.

Milan push for Gonçalo Ramos and shield Pulisic

The name dominating internal conversations at the Milan club is Gonçalo Ramos. The Paris Saint-Germain centre-forward is at the top of the attacking priority list, and negotiations are advancing around 70 million euros. It is no small amount, but the board appears willing to back the investment to hand the new coach a striker of European pedigree.

On the other hand, Christian Pulisic has been declared untransferable after Milan turned down a 50 million offer from New York City FC. Rafael Leão also remains a key piece of the project. On the departures front, the picture is murkier: Youssouf Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ismaël Bennacer are in an undefined situation. Santiago Giménez has drawn interest from Porto, who would be willing to offer around 28 million plus bonuses for the Mexican centre-forward. Besides Ramos, the club is monitoring Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea and Francisco Trincão of Sporting CP – two names that speak directly to the style of play Amorim intends to implement.

Napoli, Inter, Roma and Juventus: everyone on the move

Napoli are working on two fronts at once. Renewing Scott McTominay is a priority, while the board seeks a deal with Lazio for Mario Gila, putting Lorenzo Lucca forward as a possible makeweight. It is the kind of operation the Italian market loves: cash plus player, with everyone leaving satisfied – in theory.

Inter are tracking Eduardo Camavinga, who is expected to leave Real Madrid this window. Roma, for their part, could move Paulo Dybala on: besides an offer from Saudi Arabia, a return to Juventus is being considered, who on the other hand could lose Edon Zhegrova – a Fiorentina target. The Viola are also working to sign Kristian Thorstvedt and Cristian Volpato, a duo Fabio Grosso already coached at Sassuolo.

Como dream big; moves across the rest of the league

Como, recently established in the top flight, are not content with a supporting role in the market. The Lombardy club are tracking Franjo Ivanovic, a Benfica forward, and negotiating for Trevoh Chalobah with Chelsea. A gap still exists: Como offered 25 million plus bonuses, while the English are asking for something close to 30 million for the defender.

Outside Serie A, Venezia confirmed the arrival of winger Kornel Lisman from Lech Poznan, and Genoa are preparing to announce Swiss midfielder Franz-Ethan Meichtry. In Serie B, Cesena are considering Alessandro Diamanti to take over the bench. The Italian market is buzzing in every division. And it has barely begun.
