G2 Esports take 250,000 dollars in Warzone
The Esports World Cup 2026 had another heavyweight day, and the centre of the stage belonged to G2 Esports. The team dominated the final of the Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence Series, totalling 210.4 points and closing the campaign comfortably clear of their main rivals, confirming a title that had been taking shape from the start of the competition.

In practice, the decider had almost no suspense. G2 finished around 30 points ahead of T1, runners-up on 182.4, while JD Gaming completed the podium with 181.4. The numbers help explain the scale of the superiority: this was not a win snatched on a small detail but consistent control of tempo, positioning and engagement choices throughout the series.
The prize for the champions was 250,000 dollars, and the result also changes the top of the discipline at the tournament. The European organisation takes the place held last year by Twisted Minds, the reigning champions until then. This time, though, the title defence stalled down the stretch: the team finished fourth on 179.2 points and missed the podium by a narrow margin.
More than a title, a message to the scene
This kind of final matters because Warzone, especially in the Resurgence format, tends to reward teams capable of staying consistent under pressure and adapting quickly to very volatile lobbies. That is exactly where G2 stood out. Rather than relying on one explosive match, the roster stacked up consistency. Put simply: they competed better when the tournament tightened.
For T1 and JD Gaming, the performance still reinforces a relevant point of the season: the scene remains highly international, with organisations from different regions fighting at the top. But the gap opened by the champions in the final suggests that, right now, one team is setting the technical standard of the discipline inside the Cup.
Zeta Division win in Overwatch as tournaments progress
The day also brought another change of crown. In Overwatch, Zeta Division beat T1 3-0 in the semi-final and then defeated Twisted Minds 4-2 in the Grand Final, taking 400,000 dollars. In the process they dethroned Team Falcons, the reigning champions, who fell early and finished only in ninth place shared with JD Gaming, VARREL and Virtus.Pro.
Away from the finals, the group stage of Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor began to shape the knockout rounds. AG.AL advanced from Group A after seeing off Team Vitality and Blacklist International, while Kuaishou Gaming secured a playoff spot in Group C with wins over Revenant Xspark and Virtus.Pro. Meanwhile the Last Chance Qualifiers for TEKKEN 8 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 came to an end, setting the board for the coming days of a Cup that keeps picking up pace.
