Tahirovic on BVB’s radar: Bosnian midfielder could cost less than 10 million

Borussia Dortmund is monitoring Benjamin Tahirovic, a 23-year-old Bosnian midfielder who currently plays for Brøndby of Denmark and has been standing out at the Euros with the Bosnia national team. The estimated value is below 10 million euros – a rarity in today’s market.
Who is Tahirovic and why Dortmund became interested
Born in Sweden, Tahirovic draws attention for his position as a holding midfielder: 1.91m tall, accurate passing, above-average game reading and a composure that is uncommon for someone his age. The German club’s interest reportedly emerged even before the continental competition, still during the tenure of former sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
Having debuted in 2021 and 2023, he accumulated eleven appearances for Roma in Serie A, before spending two seasons at Ajax in Amsterdam. Now at Brøndby, he has established himself as a starter and appeared on the radar of those who follow the European market more closely.
With Kehl’s departure and the arrival of Ole Book as the new man in charge of the sporting area, the Rhineland club went on to explore other alternatives. Even so, Tahirovic remains on BVB’s list of options. The cost of the deal would be a record for the Danish club – but, on the scale of top-level European football, almost a bargain.
More options on the market: Casado and Campbell also under consideration
Dortmund is also following Marc Casado, a 22-year-old midfielder developed at Barcelona. Last season, the Spaniard made 27 appearances, 13 of them as a starter – insufficient volume for a player who had already played more in previous years. With a contract until 2028, Casado has reportedly decided to leave the Catalans this summer.
The asking price is far steeper: up to 25 million euros. And the competition is heavy. VfB Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, Manchester United and clubs from Saudi Arabia are also circling the player – although the Saudi option, according to sources close to the athlete’s entourage, does not appeal to him.
Cole Campbell, a young BVB-developed forward, is set to take a different path. After a little-used loan to Hoffenheim – only five appearances -, the club is studying a permanent exit or a new loan. SV Elversberg, recently promoted to the German second division, is reportedly close to signing the player. Celtic Glasgow has also reportedly shown interest in the winger.
