The 2026 esports calendar gathers more than 30 tournaments across every continent

Calling esports a mere “niche” is like describing the ocean as a puddle. In 2026, the industry finally stopped pretending it fits inside small studios: tournaments spread across Japan, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and China, and the year’s calendar promises to be the densest in the competitive history of video games.

January already heated everything up

The year waited for no one to wake up. In January, M7 Mobile Legends exploded in Indonesia as one of the most anticipated mobile events in the world, while Riot Games fired up two games at once – the League of Legends and VALORANT seasons kicked off almost simultaneously across all territories. Riot doesn’t usually share the spotlight, but the 2026 calendar simply gave it no other option.

The LCK Cup debuted in South Korea on January 14, and on the same day China put two heavyweights on the table: the LPL for “League” and the King Pro League spring split for Honor of Kings. Riot, Valve and ESL clearly agreed not to leave a single week empty.

For shooter fans, BLAST Bounty Winter in Malta (January 22-25) served as an appetizer before IEM Krakow, which began on January 28. The Polish tournament is one you can’t miss. CS2 knew how to open the year in style. Apex Legends, meanwhile, surprised everyone by moving up its World Championship in Japan right out of the gate, with the ALGS promising to be intense from start to finish.

From Paris to Riyadh: the season doesn’t slow down

February concentrated the Rainbow Six Siege Invitational in Paris – an event that, for fans of the game, works more like a pilgrimage than a tournament. In parallel, VALORANT, CS2 and Dota 2 LANs packed the schedules across the Americas and Europe.

Spring brought IEM Rio 2026 and Bucharest for CS2, while Epic Games launched the first Major of the Fortnite season. May turned into a marathon month: PGL Astana 2026 in Kazakhstan (May 7-17) generated buzz for its unusual location, and soon after the teams migrated to China for the CS Asian Championship 2026. Rocket League went to France on May 20. Evo Japan dominated Tokyo from the 1st to the 3rd of the same month.

June turned Cologne into the epicenter. ESL elevated IEM Cologne to Major status, and VALORANT Masters arrived right after to fight for the audience. In July, Saudi Arabia entered at full force: the Esports World Championship brought together disciplines ranging from Apex Legends to PUBG in Riyadh, while the Call of Duty League grand final took place in the United States from July 16 to 19.

August and the weight of the grand finals

The heaviest month of the year fell to August. Valve moved The International 2026 to China – and Dota 2 fans are already organizing their late nights. At the same time, the Esports World Championship remained in full swing, with Rocket League and CS2 competing for attention in the Saudi market. There’s a lot happening at once. Hard even to keep up with.

The second half still holds the League of Legends Worlds, the VALORANT finals, and the closing CS2 and Dota 2 LANs. December should arrive as a breather – or as quiet preparation for 2027. The esports of 2026 isn’t a phenomenon. It’s a machine. And it has no pause button.
